GROWING A SENSE OF WONDER

SELF DISCOVERY

AT THE WONDER TREE CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE WILL NOT ONLY DISCOVER THE WONDER OF YOGA AND MINDFULNESS

BUT ALSO THEIR OWN WONDER

LEWIS CARROLL, ALICE'S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND

Who in the world am I?  Ah, that's the great puzzle.

I can't go back to yesterday because I was a different person then.

You Are Full of Wonder!

You are one of a kind, uniquely you!

You are perfectly imperfect and fascinating!

If children recognise this they will see themselves in positive light, they will bloom with self belief and self acceptance.

At The Wonder Tree we refer to our 'Wonder Powers' to empower children and to help grow their sense of their own wonder.

"Wonder" by Naught Boy featuring Emeli Sandé encourages us to be brave, to work hard, to be open minded and to connect with others.  It celebrates how you can be resilient when you are full of wonder!

“Wonder”

I can beat the night
I’m not afraid of thunder
I am full of light
I am full of wonder

Wo-oh, oh-oh, I / we ain’t falling under
Wo-oh, oh-oh, I / we am full of wonder

Though our feet might ache
The world’s upon our shoulders
No way we gon’ break
Cause we are full of wonder

This light is contagious
Go, go tell your neighbors
Just reach out and pass it on, ooh, yeah

When everything feels wrong
And darkness falls upon you
Just try sing along
This is a message from Cabana

If your heart turns blue
I want you to remember
This song is for you
And you are full of wonder

Theme Tune

We are human beings, not human doings. We sometimes need to just be, to take time to ponder the meaning of being, to question and to dare to dream.  We can grow our sense of wonder by:

  • seeing change as an opportunity, whether it is deliberate or unintentional;

  • by slowing down;

  • by always learning and being inspired by others or nature; and

  • by changing our perspective, e.g. looking at life through someone else's eyes, approaching things from a different angle or experiencing the familiar in an unfamiliar way.
